iSkins. :)

Our current project in art class is making skins and screen savers for an iPod touch, an iPod classic, an iPad, or a laptop.

I chose to make one for an iPod touch since I have one and I could one day turn my design into a real skin and put it on my iPod.

For my design I chose the category elements to design. The element I chose was water. The design I drew was waves from top to bottom and a big star on the top left corner. What I decided was to color the star full yellow and the waves a mixture of dark blue, light blue, dark green, light green and purple. I started on my coloring and the mixture of all those colors is incredible. It may not look like the real ocean but the goal is to make it a simplified ocean and a simplified star. And how yellow stands out against blue is amazing. It truly brings out both colors.

I will soon upload a video to represent this iSkin Project when we're done with our finals and have made our final posters. :)

Tessellations :)

In Design Art we did tessellations. It was so fun ! The bad thing was I wanted something so unique so I made a really cool tessellation. Problem is I had to trace that tessellation 7 more times ! It was hard and I only traced it 6 more times because I was really falling behind. The reason we were doing tessellations was because one day in class we were looking at the tessellations of M.C. Escher. M.C. Escher is an artist/mathematician who makes tessellations that are mathematically accurate. We didn't have to make them mathematically accurate but we needed to make tessellations. My whole class thought it was impossible but Ms. Bammi taught us the 'secret' and we were off doing our own thing being as creative as Ms. Bammi taught us to be.

Right now I can't upload anything because I don't have my picture to make a movie or to upload as itself. So I will add my video/picture of my tessellation later.

Impressionism Painting

In class, we did a painting on impressionism. Impressionism became famous with Claude Monet. He made wonderful paintings that everyone wanted to see. Our project was to do the same and make an impressionism painting. We chose landscapes out of magazines and started painting. We used dabs of paint and if we wanted to mix colors we would put two dabs of paint that were different colors very close together. The closer you look in an impressionism painting the more you can see the dabs of color stuck together but if you look at it from a distance it looks realistic and it doesn't seem like you put dabs of color together. Impressionism is a nice way to make a painting. And that's why we did it in class.

Upside Down Painting

In class we did a project where we had to draw something in columns but we didn't know what it was. When Ms. Bammi showed us the first column and told us to draw it we did. Each column was filled with lines. Lines that bent, twisted and turned. Half way through some people started to pick up that it was an upside down man. This drawing was made by Picasso. After people started seeing it they just continued with the lines. Unfortunately, when it was more visible people started to try drawing the man instead of following the lines. Including me. And it ended with the man having a black head and white body. I was disappointed and I learned that if you see the man in the upside down drawing continue to follow the lines. It will make your picture look absolutely amazing.

Lines

Our class did a project on lines. We found things around the class that were 3D. Something we could draw that looked like it was coming out. Our class had so much fun. We found the items, drew them and after colored them in. After that Ms. Bammi gave us a black sheet of paper and said we should put the pictures together but leave it all connected. We did it and all of our pictures looked great. My picture were these things put together:

A glass, a cupcake, a hat, a marker and a pair of glasses.

I put the cupcake in the glass because it's a cup. You get it? Cupcake? and i just put the glasses and marker stuck in like an ice cream sundae. But instead of chocolate sticks a marker and glasses. And for the finishing touch I made the hat hang from the glasses. That's what we did in class for lines.
